This film is a delight for many reasons. First reason, it is full of cajun music, with great music! I was not familiar with this type of music until I saw this documentary, and it was an excellent introduction.

The second reason, I liked that the film put Lafayette, Louisiana on the map for me. So much so, that it made my bucket list to visit the city during Mardi Gras!

Thirdly, I loved the message of the film. As an immigrant, I completely understood the message: keep your heritage, music, language and traditions alive and pass it onto the next generation. It is our duty and it is very important. This message will resonate with many viewers, especially those who came from other countries to live here in the U.S.A. What is interesting in this message that it is delivered by not emigrants, but Americans who were born here, and their families were also American born citizens, but by heritage, they are French descendants. They are not only proud of their music, but the film introduced us to one of their fun traditions they cherish. It takes place on Fat Tuesday during Mardi Gras. The audience may be just as amazed by this fun event, as I was, that they may want to participate in it the future. I will for sure.

The film is well balanced between the interviews and the music. The interviews are informative, as they should be in a documentary film.  My only “complaint” is that there was not enough music (for me). However, this film makes us want to research cajun music and may want us to listen to it more often.

Go see the film and go listen to the music. You will not regret it.
